This digital cooking thermometer with probe cooks meats according to your taste level - from rare to well done, including a user-programmable setting - without the guesswork. Simply insert the rugged stainless steel probe (covered in durable silicone) into your meat, attach the probe to the base unit located outside the oven or barbecue, and program to your preferred level of doneness. The easy-to-read bright blue backlight display shows the inner temperature of the food during cooking. A remote unit with a lanyard, clip, stand, or magnet allows the cook to roam anywhere within 200 feet of the oven or grill. The remote pager lights up, sounds an alarm, and vibrates when the food is cooked to the target temperature; there are two pre-alerts when the temperature is approaching the target. A 48-hour/60-minute countdown timer operates independently of the thermometer for monitoring other cooking tasks.
